Migration Studies
Why Study Migration Studies?
- You will gain insight into one of the most pressing issues of today’s world.
Migration Studies focuses on various forms of human mobility in both the Czech and international context. It offers a deeper understanding of migration as a complex and dynamic phenomenon and introduces students to key theories as well as contemporary interdisciplinary approaches. The programme is interdisciplinary and draws on knowledge from cultural anthropology, sociology, history, geography, psychology, and other related fields. - You will learn how to analyse data, identify connections, and think critically.
We place strong emphasis on working with migration data, interpreting it, and understanding migration processes within broader social and historical contexts. Students acquire the skills needed for the critical reflection of both current and past migration events, policies, and terminology. - You will meet experts from academia as well as practice.
The programme includes excursions to institutions involved in migration policy in the Czech Republic, such as the Department of Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic. You will also become familiar with organisations that support migrants and refugees in their integration into Czech society. - You will gain specialist knowledge that is increasingly in demand in the Czech Republic.
Migration Studies offers unique qualifications in the fields of migration and integration — areas in which there is still a shortage of qualified professionals.
